New Regulations

A 'Competent Person' is –

someone that has been approved by one of the Government-approved Part P schemes as being sufficiently competent to self-certify that its work complies with the Building Regulations.

COSYWARM is currently registered under the scheme for;

• Gas heat producing appliances
• Electrical work (limited to and forming part of the gas installation)
• Plumbing – including un-vented hot water systems
• Energy Efficiency

This means we are not required to notify a building control body of our proposal to carry out work which reduces costs for the customer. Additional charges for calling out a building control body (usually around £300) can therefore be avoided and also provides assurance to you that your work will be carried out by a suitably qualified person.

The benefits of using our company which holds this certification are;

• We can take care of all the new notifications for you
• You can be certain we do hold the correct qualifications
• You will receive certification from CORGI – called a declaration of safety - that our work complies with the above regulations. From 2007 this will be a requirement when selling your home
• All notifiable work is covered by an insurance backed 6 year warranty against our workmanship.

We support this new regulation and are pleased it has been put in place to protect the consumer. As people become more aware of the scheme it will make it more difficult for rogue traders to carryout unsafe installations and in turn reduce the number of injuries and deaths caused as a result of unsafe installations.
